The IICRC TCST (Trauma and Crime Scene Cleanup Technician) course provides specific information for the proper maintenance and cleaning of trauma and crime scenes. Emphasis is placed on health and safety requirements (including the hands-on donning and doffing of PPE and creating a hazard assessment of the area), structural remediation (cleaning and demo), contents remediation (cleaning and disposal), and the cleaning and disposal of vehicles and industrial machinery (including lockout/tagout and working with industrial site officers). Cleaning and demo equipment will be discussed along with the laws regarding hazardous waste, transport, storage, and disposal.

Should I take the TCST Course?

The IICRC TCST certification teaches students biohazard cleanup procedures and safety. 

After taking this course, students can take the IICRC TCST exam. After passing the exam, the student will receive their certification. Our TCST course prepares students for the exam following class and, more importantly, for real-world applications.

Do I have to be in the TCST class the entire time?​

To be eligible to take the exam, students must attend the full class.

Can I use an iPhone for the TCST class?

Students must use a computer or tablet to view the trauma and crime scene cleanup class.

When and how do I take the TCST exam?

You have a 45-day window after class to complete the exam. The TCST exam is completed online through the IICRC exam portal.

If you attend in-person classes, you will take the exam on the last day of class.

Does the TCST certification expire?

The TCST certification does not expire as long as it is renewed. 

What time zone is the TCST class in?

The TCST class schedule is shown in Pacific Standard Time (PST). If you need help determining what time the class starts for your location, see our page on time zones.

After taking the TCST course with LearnToRestore.com, students can take the TCST exam. Upon passing the exam, the IICRC will issue the student a certification and mail a paper certificate to you!

How much is the IICRC TCST exam fee?

The TCST exam fee is $80.

Can I use notes on the exam?

The IICRC TCST exam is a closed book and closed notes exam.

When do I take the TCST exam?

If you attend the online live-stream TCST course, you will complete the exam online after the class through the IICRC exam portal within 45-days of class ending.

Students attending the in-person course will complete the exam on the last day of class. 

Can I retake the TCST exam?

You have three attempts to pass the TCST exam. Each TCST exam attempt has an $80 exam fee. If you fail the third attempt, you will need to take the class again before an additional exam retake. If you fail the exam three times and need to take the class again, we will put you in a refresher class for free!
