The IICRC BMI (Building Moisture Inspection) class teaches students how to perform comprehensive moisture assessments in a variety of building environments. You’ll learn how to identify sources of moisture, document building history, use diagnostic tools, and evaluate moisture-related risks to protect both buildings and occupants. This course emphasizes systematic inspection methods, safety protocols, and professional reporting to resolve and prevent moisture problems effectively.

In the IICRC BMI course, students will learn the essential skills for identifying and inspecting moisture issues in buildings. Taught by industry experts, this course covers a systematic approach to moisture inspection, including building history, environmental factors, material types, and potential site hazards. Participants can attend the course either in an online live-stream format in our Zoom classroom or join us for an in-person class. After successfully completing the course and passing the IICRC exam, students will earn their BMI certification!

Are there prerequisites before taking BMI?
No, there are no prerequisites before taking the BMI course, but it is highly recommended students have a WRT certification.

Students can take the IICRC BMI exam after attending the course. Upon passing the exam, the IICRC will issue a certification and mail a certificate for you to display!
How much is the IICRC BMI exam fee?
The BMI exam fee is $80.
Can I use notes on the exam?
The IICRC BMI exam is a closed-book and closed-notes exam.
When do I take the BMI exam?
Students attending the live-stream online BMI course will complete the exam online after the class through the IICRC exam portal. You have 45-days to complete the exam after class ends.
Students attending the in-person course will complete the exam on the last day of class.
Can I retake the BMI exam?
You have three attempts to pass the BMI exam. Each exam attempt has an $80 exam fee. If you fail the third attempt, you will need to take the BMI class again before an additional exam retake. If you fail the exam three times and need to take the class again, we will put you in a refresher class for free!
