The IICRC ASPWR (Apprentice Skills in Water Restoration) course will teach you the basics of water damage restoration. This course is designed for individuals who need to know the concepts and terms of restoration but may not be in the field. This includes office staff, marketing teams, accounting departments, insurance professionals, building management, or new hires!

In the IICRC ASPWR course, students will learn the basics of water damage restoration. Taught by industry experts, students will attend the class in an online live-stream format led by an instructor in our Zoom classroom. This allows students to learn in real-time with other students, ask questions, and participate in the class! After completing the class and passing the IICRC exam, students will earn their ASPWR Certificate of Training. This course is 100% online, including the exam!

Should I take the ASPWR Course?
The IICRC ASPWR course (previously named BSWR or Basic Skills in Water Restoration) is a great introduction to water damage restoration. The Apprentice Skills in Water Restoration course will give you the essentials of mitigation and water damage restoration. Anyone can take the ASPWR class; there are no prerequisites or experience required!
The ASPWR course is tailored to individuals new to the restoration industry or those who need to know the essentials of water damage restoration but don’t work in the field. We often see office staff, insurance agents and adjusters, marketing teams, accounting, and call center staff. This is also an excellent course for new water technicians to learn the basics.
The Apprentice Skills in Water Damage Restoration class gives the student an understanding of common principles and terms used in water damage. This allows them to have high-level conversations with clients, callers, and their team.

Yes, to be eligible to take the IICRC exam after class you must attend the entire course.
Students must use a computer or tablet to view the ASPWR class.
Students have a 45-day window after the ASPWR live-stream class to complete the exam online through the IICRC exam portal. For in person classes, students will take the exam on the last day of class.
The ASPWR class times are shown in Pacific Standard Time (PST). If you need help determining what time the class starts for your location, see our page on time zones.
Students who pass the ASPWR exam after class will earn an IICRC Certificate of Training to display their accomplishments. This is not an IICRC certification.

After attending the course, students can take the ASPWR exam. Upon passing the exam, the IICRC will issue the student a Certificate of Training, and mail a certificate for you to display! Students are able to take the exam after attending an ASPWR course with LearnToRestore.com. Note, this is a Certificate of Training and not an IICRC certification.
How much is the IICRC ASPWR exam fee?
The WRT exam fee is $50.
Can I use notes on the exam?
The IICRC ASPWR exam is a closed book and closed notes exam.
When do I take the ASPWR exam?
Students attending the live-stream online ASPWR course will complete the exam online after the class through the IICRC exam portal. You have 45-days to complete the exam after class ends.
Students attending the in-person course will complete the exam on the last day of class.
Can I retake the ASPWR exam?
You have three attempts to pass the ASPWR exam. Each exam attempt has an$50 exam fee. If you fail the third attempt, you will need to take the WRT class again before an additional exam retake. If you fail the exam three times and need to take the class again, we will put you in a refresher class for free!
