The IICRC CRT (Color Repair Technician) course teaches students color repair techniques and dye procedures. With color repair, carpets can often be repair and fixed instead of replaced! Couple with our other IICRC cleaning courses, like the Carpet Cleaning Technician and Carpet Repair and Reinstallation Technician, students will have a foundation of cleaning and repair for the field!

Our IICRC Color Repair Technician (CRT) course addresses the history of color, color theory, natural and synthetic dyes, dye methods, types of dyes, types of fibers, carpet styles, and dye procedures. Earn an IICRC certification after successfully passing a post-course exam.

Course Prerequisites: IICRC CCT or CCMT is a prerequisite for this class

Class Supplies: You will need carpet samples and dye for the class. The dyeing kit, including shipping, is included in the course price. You must register for the course at least 5 days before it begins to ensure delivery of the dyeing kit. Please use the correct mailing address when registering for the class!

Should I take the CRT Course?

The IICRC Color Repair Technician course is great for anyone interested in the cleaning industry, specifically concerning carpets. This color repair training teaches students how carpets can be repaired using color theory and dyes.

After taking this course, students will have the opportunity to take the certification exam. After passing the CRT exam, students will receive their certification. Our CRT course prepares students for the exam following class and, more importantly, for real-world applications.

IICRC WRT is Required for the Master Water Restorer Designation

Can I take the Color Repair Technician course online?

Yes, you can take the CRT course in our online live-stream course. Students will be mailed a dye and sample kit to use during the class.

When do I take the CRT exam?

Students have a 45-day window after the CRT class to complete the exam online through the IICRC exam portal. For in person classes, students will take the exam on the last day of class.

What time zone is the CRT class in?

The classes are shown in Pacific Standard Time (PST). If you need help determining what time the class starts for your location, see our page on time zones.

After attending the course, students can take the CRT exam. Upon passing the exam, the IICRC will issue the student a certification, and mail a certificate for you to display! Students are able to take the exam after attending a WRT course with LearnToRestore.com.

How much is the IICRC CRT exam fee?

The CRT exam fee is $80.

Can I use notes on the exam?

The IICRC CRT exam is a closed book and closed notes exam.

When do I take the Color Repair Technician exam?

After attending the online live-stream CRT course, students have a 45-day window to complete the exam on the IICRC exam portal. 

Students attending the in-person course will complete the exam on the last day of class. 

Can I retake the CRT exam?

You have three attempts to pass the CRT exam. Each exam attempt has an $80 exam fee. If you fail the third attempt, you will need to take the CRT class again before an additional exam retake. If you fail the exam three times and need to take the class again, we will put you in a refresher class for free!
