Following the certification course, students will have the opportunity to complete the corresponding exam. Upon successfully passing the exam, the IICRC will issue the certification to you!

Should I take the HST Course?
The IICRC HST course is a great course for anyone in the restoration industry to help keep them and their team members safe! With an emphasis on the hazards of the restoration and cleaning industry, the HST course has no prerequisites or experience requirements, so anyone can take the course and earn the Health & Safety Technician certification!
IICRC HST is Required for the Master Water Restorer and Master Fire & Smoke Restorer Designations
The Health & Safety Technician Certification is a required certification to earn the IICRC Master Water Restorer designation and the Fire & Smoke Restorer designation.

The IICRC requires students to attend the full duration of class to be eligible to take the certification exam.
Students must use a computer or tablet to view the certification class.
Students have a 45-day window after class to complete the HST exam online through the IICRC exam portal. If students take a person class, they will take the exam on the last day of class.
IICRC certifications don’t expire as long as they are renewed.

Students can take the IICRC HST exam after attending a class with LearnToRestore.com Upon passing the exam, the IICRC will issue a certification, and mail a certificate for you to display!
How much is the IICRC HST exam fee?
The HST exam fee is $80.
Can I use notes on the exam?
The IICRC HST exam is a closed book and closed notes exam.
When do I take the HST exam?
Students attending the online live-stream HST course will complete the exam online after the class through the IICRC exam portal. You have 45-days to complete the exam after class ends.
Students attending the in-person course will complete the exam on the last day of class.
Can I retake the HST exam?
You have three attempts to pass the HST exam. Each exam attempt has an $80 exam fee. If you fail the third attempt, you will need to take the HST class again before an additional exam retake. If you fail the exam three times and need to take the class again, we will put you in a refresher class for free!
