The IICRC FSRT (Fire & Smoke Restoration Technician) course concentrates on technical procedures for successfully completing the restoration of a fire and smoke-damaged environment. Students will learn how to combine technical procedures with a practical approach to managing the job site and how that relates to pricing the job. The IICRC FSRT (Fire & Smoke Restoration Technician) certification course is designed for those wanting to improve their knowledge in the fire and smoke restoration industry. We have students that are brand new to the industry with no experience, to students who have been in the industry for years! The FSRT class will give you the understanding and information you need to properly assess a fire loss, determine affected materials, create a restoration plan, understand the scope of work to be performed, determine needed equipment, understand the science of restoration and more!

Should I take the FSRT Course?
The IICRC FSRT certification is often one of the first classes students take in their restoration industry education. The Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician class teaches students the fundamentals of cleaning and restoring building damaged by fire and smoke. Anyone can take the FSRT class, there are no prerequisites or experience required!
After taking the FSRT course, students will have the opportunity to take the IICRC exam. Once you pass the exam, you will receive your certification. Our FSRT course prepares students for the exam following class and, more importantly, for real-world applications.
IICRC FSRT is Required for the Master Fire & Smoke Restorer Designation
The Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician is a required certification to earn the IICRC Master Fire & Smoke Restorer designation.

The IICRC requires students to attend the full duration of class to be eligible to take the certification exam.
Students must use a computer or tablet to view the certification class.
Students have a 45-day window after class to complete the exam online through the IICRC exam portal. For in person classes, students will take the exam on the last day of class.
IICRC certifications don’t expire as long as they are renewed.

After attending the course, students can take the FSRT exam. Upon passing the exam, the IICRC will issue the student a certification, and mail a certificate for you to display! Students are able to take the exam after attending a FSRT course with LearnToRestore.com.
How much is the IICRC FSRT exam fee?
The FSRT exam fee is $80.
Can I use notes on the exam?
The IICRC FSRT exam is a closed book and closed notes exam.
When do I take the FSRT exam?
Students attending the live-stream online IICRC FSRT course will complete the exam online after the class through the IICRC exam portal. You have 45-days to complete the exam after class ends.
Students attending the in-person course will complete the exam on the last day of class.
Can I retake the FSRT exam?
You have three attempts to pass the FSRT exam. Each exam attempt has an $80 exam fee. If you fail the third attempt, you will need to take the FSRT class again before an additional exam retake. If you fail the exam three times and need to take the class again, we will put you in a refresher class for free!
