Salt Lake City, UT – November 17, 2025 – LearnToRestore.com, the leading provider of restoration training and education and an IICRC-approved school, is excited to announce that its brand new “Flood House” has been inspected and approved by the IICRC as an IICRC-approved Applied Structural Drying (ASD) Flood Facility.
This training facility is designed to provide restoration education with real-world experience in water damage, smoke damage, pack-out, carpet cleaning, estimating, and more. Additionally, this allows LearnToRestore.com to hold the IICRC Applied Structural Drying (ASD) in the new state-of-the-art facility.
The nearly 2,000 square foot Flood House will allow students to participate in a real-world water damage restoration project. It has been designed to give students a behind-the-scenes look at how water and moisture affect different building materials. This includes drywall cut-outs to see how insulation is affected when wet, how air flow moves in wall cavities, and different drying conditions, including living areas and a basement. The Flood House also features multiple types of flooring, including hardwood, LVP, nylon carpet, Berber carpet, glue-down carpet, various pad weights, tile, and concrete, allowing students to understand how to dry these different materials using different equipment and methods.
Before class begins, the Flood House is flooded with hundreds of gallons of water over multiple days, to simulate conditions of an actual mitigation and restoration project when students arrive.
Participants will then perform hands-on restoration and apply industry standards during the project, including:
- Extracting water using portable and truck-mounted extractors
- Finding moisture using moisture meters and sensors
- Moisture mapping affected areas
- Determine equipment needs based on the project
- Install equipment according to industry standards
- Monitor and document job progress
LearnToRestore.com’s Training Center offers dozens of courses for restoration and cleaning, including IICRC-approved classes, and is equipped with the latest equipment and tools.
